Nobody Actually Enjoys Your Sarcasm Because It's Actually Mean

ANNUAL REMINDER: When people say they're "sarcastic" they usually THINK they're talking about being sort of snarky-funny, maybe in a dark way. But first of all, negativity isn't super funny. It's honestly an energy suck.

But also, in my experience when someone leads with, "You should know I'm really sarcastic," it usually just means they are hella passive-aggressive and/or not great at communication and/or extremely sensitive to criticism but also conflict-averse and/or they are mean and want to couch their meanness in "humor."

And oftentimes they actually just want to get ahead of you judging them for it and/or gaslight you about your feelings when you have a reaction to it.

(Any or all of that is usually what it really translates to in action/real life.)

So if you're this person, you should know that your "sarcasm" rarely translates to "fun and funny" to other people. Oftentimes, people probably just think you're a d*ck. Sorry, but also you're welcome. (You can work on this!)
